Whiplash

a common neck and/or back injury suffered in automobile accidents (particularly from beinghit from the rear) in which the head and/or upper back is snapped back and forth suddenly andviolently by the impact. The injury is to the "soft tissues" and sometimes to the vertebrae, doesnot always evidence itself for a day or two, and can cause pain and disability for periods up toa year. The degree of injury and the pain and suffering from whiplash are often in dispute inclaims and lawsuits for damages due to negligent driving.

Whiplash is a neck injury due to forceful, rapid back-and-forth movement of the neck, like the cracking of a whip. Whiplash most often occurs during a rear-end auto accident, but the injury can also result from a sports accident, physical abuse or other trauma.

Sign & Symptoms Of Whiplash

Common signs and symptoms of whiplash include neck pain, stiffness and headaches. Most people with whiplash recover within a few months after a course of pain medication, exercise and other treatments. Some people experience chronic neck pain and other ongoing complications
1- Pain, decreased range of motion, and tightness in the neck. The muscles may feel hard or knotted.
2- Pain when rocking your head from side to side or backward and forward.
3-Tenderness.
4-Headaches at the base of the skull that radiate towards the forehead
